Footage shows a stork's battle to save her eggs from severe storms and a jealous male stork.

The wildlife camera, which is owned by the non-profit SEO-BirdLife, is perched on a tower in Madrigal de las Altas Torres, Spain.

The camera has been recording the nest of a laying couple of white storks and recent footage showed the female desperately battling to keep her eggs alive.

In a period of 10 days, she sadly lost three out of her six eggs.

A male stork, which became jealous of the couple's nest after losing his mate, attacked the eggs and tossed two out.

SEO-BirdLife said: "Since the loss of his mate, the male from nest three is absolutely jealous of nest one."

One video shows the jealous male attacking the female while she nests and brutally pecking at her wings.

He successfully kicks her out of the nest before tossing the egg out.

Another one shows the male from nest three approaching the female as she incubates the eggs alone.

He then attempts to peck at one of the eggs but misses and ends up scuffling with the female before both fall out of the nest.

Sadly, the male gets back first and tosses another egg out of the nest.

To the add the misery, the area was hit by strong winds from Storm Nelson and a third egg away.

Video taken on March 27th shows the female stork desperately clinging to the nest during strong winds.

Thankfully, the embattled mother was able to flip the eggs as she must after every few hours of incubation.

SEO-BirdLife said: "Storm Nelson continues to rage across much of Spain.

"The female has been incubating for hours and needs to turn the eggs.

"Given the strong prevailing wind, she manages to get up and with great difficulty manages to rotate them and lie down on them again.

"The female endures incubating as long as she can. This time he succeeds and keeps her three eggs safe."

La DANA que golpeó ayer gran parte del país mostró su lado más amargo en Castilla y León. En concreto, el municipio abulense de Madrigal de las Altas Torres sufrió un reventón térmico, un fenómeno meteorológico poco común que a menudo deja imágenes sobrecogedoras de fuertes vientos y lluvias. Estas fueron las que una pareja de pollos vivieron en sus propias plumas, cuando el fuerte viento arrasó con su nido con los pájaros en él.

En un vídeo publicado por la cuenta de X de SEO/BirdLife se ve cómo la pareja de pollos, asentada en su nido en lo alto de la iglesia del municipio, sufre durante varios minutos el comienzo del reventón húmedo. Las fuertes rachas de viento y lluvia se saldaron con la estructura, arrastrando no solo al hogar de las aves, también a ellas mismas. El trágico suceso, como se ve en el vídeo que captó en directo el momento gracias a una de las cámaras de la ONG, tuvo lugar sobre las 18.00 horas. En ese momento el cielo comenzó a nublarse y el viento y la lluvia empezaron a golpear sin descanso a los animales, que se encontraban acurrucados el uno con el otro.

La ONG añade en la publicación de X que no es la primera vez que las condiciones climatológicas adversas arrasan un nido de cigüeña. En este caso, la tragedia va más allá, y es que como aclara la organización en el tweet, uno de los pollos consiguió volver al nido una vez el tiempo se lo permitió. Sin embargo, su acompañante sigue sin aparecer. No han sido pocos los usuarios que han mostrado su interés por el animal. Muchos comentarios en la publicación desean que la ONG pueda encontrar lo antes posible al pollo perdido. Por su parte, SEO/BirdLife asegura que están tratando de localizar al animal desaparecido.
